In the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Gujarat, more than 4.21 lakh senior citizens of above 85 years’ age have been noticed and their verification work is in progress, said the office of Chief Electoral Officer in a statement on Monday.
During the process, more than 11.58 lakh demographically similar entries (DSE) have also come to notice and scrutiny of the same is on at the level of Booth Level Officer (BLO) and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), it added.
The statement said more than 74 lakh enumeration forms have remained uncollected and verification work is going on in a series of meetings between BLOs and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of recognised political parties during December 7-9. And so far, more than 37,000 such meetings have already been conducted.
The statement added that after conclusion of these meetings, a list of those voters whose forms have not been returned are being published on the website of the concerned district election officer. In the days ahead, it will be published on the website of the CEO as well, the statement said.
As per the statement, names of more than 17.94 lakh dead voters were existing in the electoral rolls whereas, more than 10.20 lakh voters were found absent at their addresses. Also, more than 40 lakh voters have found to have shifted permanently.
In Gujarat, the SIR process started on October 27 and will end on December 11. The statement said 99.76 per cent of the enumeration phase process has been completed. Enumeration forms were distributed to 5.08 crore voters across the state.
