UP tops with MPs securing below 1/3rd votes in 2004 polls

The most populous state in the country had 80 seats in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections,but 15 of them could not muster even 30 per cent of the total votes cast.

Jai Prakash Rawat from Mohanlalganj,a constituency adjoining state capital Lucknow won by securing just about 26 per cent of the total votes cast during the polls. He was the winning candidate with the least number of votes secured in those elections.

In the seat bordering Bihar,Robertsganj,the winning candidate managed to get just over 26 per cent of the total votes. The condition remained more or less same for the winners from Padrauna at 26.18 per cent,Aligarh 26.38 per cent,Farrukhabad 26.47 per cent and Basti 26.93 per cent.

Other constituencies with the same distinction included Mirzapur with 27.74 per cent,Ghosi 27.92 per cent,Bansgaon 28.54 per cent,Aonla 28.58 per cent,Sitapur 28.79 per cent,Chandauli 29.05 per cent,Jhansi 29.13 per cent,Salempur 29.21 per cent and Hapur 29.40 per cent respectively in 2004.
