Raje loses ‘Z’ security cover

Raje gets 'Y' category security under which she will be provided with an escort of one to four guards and two PSOs while travelling in the state.

Rajasthan Government has downsized the security cover of former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, official sources said on Tuesday.

The BJP National General Secretary will, under ‘Y’ category security,be provided with an escort of one to four guards and two Personal Security Officers (PSOs) while travelling in the state.

Earlier, under ‘Z plus’ category security cover, she had two PSOs round-the-clock and moved in a bullet proof car with armed commandos.

According to the sources, she was give ‘Z plus’ security cover when she received threats during her tenure as Chief Minister.

Criticising the state’s government’s decision, state BJP leaders Rajendra Rathore,Digambar Singh,Om Birla and Bhawani Singh Rajawat said Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has showed his “narrow mentality” by reducing her security.

They alleged the government was taken aback by the “warm welcome” Raje had received during her recent visit to the state after taking charge as BJP National General Secretary.

The leaders said the state government would be responsible for any problem encountered by Raje due to her reduced security cover.

The order to this effect was issued last week.
