Pawar: Modi lacks basic human values

There are many instances that show Modi’s vision and intentions are not good, the NCP chief said.

Coming down heavily on BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday said the Gujarat CM lacks basic human values and “can’t be expected to work for the well-being of all communities across the country”.

“A Congress MP belonging to the minority community was burned alive in his state. It was the responsibility of the state chief to at least express his condolence to the family of deceased. However, he did not even show the courtesy of meeting the family members of the MP. These are clear signs that he cannot think of the well-being of all communities,” Pawar said, addressing a joint rally of Congress and NCP in the city.

Modi has been continuously criticising the PM and the ruling alliance ministers and “has no respect to the constitutional post as his focus is to defame the posts”, Pawar said. “I have witnessed many elections but never in my life have I seen elections being contested by projecting one person. The leader is elected by those who make it to the Lok Sabha as it was the right of the elected representatives. This is different kind of dictatorship,” he added.

Modi has been wrongly talking of historical facts, which means he does not understand the importance of history and its contribution in nation building, he said. There are many instances that show Modi’s vision and intentions are not good, the NCP chief said, adding that the Gujarat CM served a notice to cooperative organisations in his state for helping farmers of Maharashtra tackle the drought situation.
