The CPM Thursday expelled dissident state committee member and three-time MP from Tamluk Lakshman Seth from the party, accusing him of indulging in anti-party activities.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the party’s state secretariat.
“Seth was summarily expelled for indulging in anti-party activities as well as tarnishing the image of the party in public, thus violating Article 19/13 of the party constitution. We believe this action of us will rather strengthen the party as someone who flouts party discipline has to be severely dealt with, however big he is,’’ Rabin Dev, party state secretariat member who headed a three-member commission to look into the activities of the Haldia-based concerns which were headed by Seth, told The Indian Express.
