TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy (Twitter/@revanth_anumula) The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Saturday hailed the party’s victory in the Karnataka Assembly election as a turning point and vowed to repeat it in Telangana.
“People of Karnataka have overwhelmingly rejected the hate politics of the BJP and have voted for development promised by the Congress. Karnataka leads the way of the Congress comeback across the nation,” said TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy.
“This clear victory shows that people want a change and they are not happy with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders and their divisive politics,” said senior Congress leader and former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir.
He added, “We’re grateful to the people of Karnataka for supporting us. They have trusted us to lead the state towards a better and wealthier future.”
According to Ali, Congress aims to work for the people and maintain democratic values. “The victory in Karnataka shows that the people support politics that focus on development and reject divisive politics. We expect this trend to continue in the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh,” he said.
Congress Legislative Party leader in Telangana Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Karnataka results was a victory for development. “Karnataka people have rejected the divisive politics of the BJP,” he said.
Congress leaders, including Revanth Reddy, former TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Shabbir Ali and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka in a statement said they were confident that the Congress party would win in the Telangana Assembly election later this year. “People in Telangana are keen for the Congress party to come back to power. Like the people of Karnataka rejected the BJP and the JD(S), we believe people in Telangana will reject both the BRS and the BJP and their divisive politics,” Ali said.
“The election results in Karnataka are a stepping stone for the Congress party in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Our victory is due to our focus on important local issues like livelihood, food security, inflation, problems faced by farmers, unemployment and corruption. On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to divide the electorate but the voters rejected this and chose the Congress party’s vision for a united and prosperous Karnataka,” he said.
Mentioning Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, Ali said, “Our leaders connected with the voters and stood for principles like inclusivity, progress and justice, which people in Karnataka deeply appreciated.”
Congress leaders predicted that the party will win over 80 seats in the upcoming Telangana Assembly election. “Sonia Gandhi gave statehood to Telangana to achieve goals related to ‘Neelu, Nidhulu, Niyamakulu (Water, Funds and Jobs)’. But the current Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao, has not fulfilled these dreams and has made the state a hub of liquor, drugs and corruption. The Congress party aims to fulfil the original dreams of the people of Telangana and implement welfare schemes for everyone,” Revanth Reddy said.
