Handover mining scam probe to CBI,Congress asks Naveen

Opposition Congress demanded that the BJD government in Orissa hand over the multi-crore mining scam probe to CBI in order to prove its transparency.

Opposition Congress on Tuesday demanded that the BJD government in Orissa hand over the multi-crore mining scam probe to CBI in order to prove its transparency.

The decision of re-seeking a CBI probe into the mining scam,presently being looked after by the state vigilance,was taken at Congress legislative party meeting here on the eve of the winter session of the Assembly.

“If you (Naveen) claim to be transparent,what prevents in handing over the mining scam to CBI”,senior Congress member Anup Kumar Sai told reporters after the CLP meeting.

Claiming that the state vigilance was not empowered to probe into the scam of this magnitude,Sai said the CBI was the only agency which could give justice.

“After all,why Naveen was afraid of CBI”,Sai asked and added that the 27 Congress MLAs in the Orissa assembly would continue to demand a CBI probe into the scam.

This apart,he said,the party would also raise farmer suicide,attack on students both here and at Balangir,Maoist menance,non-completion of BPL list and other issues during the month long winter session.
