VADODARA, April 6: If the Barodians adopt several means to have a respite from the scorching sun, birds and animals in the Sayajibaug Zoo are no way behind.

Come summer, the citizens start to cool off by having cold drinks or sitting in an air-conditioned room or using caps. But for the animals it is just banking upon the help of the zoo authorities.

This summer zoo authorities have given a fair deal to the animals and deserve to get bouquets from one and all.

Additional layer of dry leaves and khasni tatti have been kept on the roofs of the cages so as to enable the animals to have respite from the heat. Creepers have been grown in such a manner that they surround the birds8217; cages. The dry grass has been also put up on the cages of lions and tigers.

While here, too, like many zoos water supply is not available round-the-clock, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Administration H S Patel said water was being sprinkled twice in the cages of birds and animals.

The birds and animals could be seen trying to take shelter in shades. While the lion was hiding himself behind a bench, the black bear was trying to constantly remain near the water pond in its enclosure.
