Dinesh Kaarthick seems to have taken his omission from the Indian team in his stride but the player is determined to stage a comeback.

With even a senior batsman like Rahul Dravid being punished by selectors for loss of form, a comparatively rookie Dinesh Kaarthick seems to have taken his omission from the Indian team for the first two cricket one-dayers against Pakistan in his stride.

But Kaarthick is determined to stage a comeback in the team sooner than later; his mantra being 8216;keep knocking at the door8217;.

The 22-year-old Tamil Nadu cricketer struggled in his last 10 one-dayers, averaging 19.33 with a highest score of 44 not out, which cost him his place in the side. But he answered the selectors with a match-winning unbeaten 116 in the Challenger Trophy final just a day after the team was announced.

8220;You have to knock and knock on the door. Being picked or dropped is part and parcel of the game,8221; said Kaarthick.

Kaarthick, who had replaced Dravid for the final ODI against Australia in Mumbai but ended up with a duck, was not insecure about his position in the team.

8220;I don8217;t think about these things because it is the selectors8217; job. My job is to play and I know I still have room for improvement. There are many areas I have to work on and I am working on them,8221; he said when asked if he was expecting a recall for the last three ODIs against Pakistan.

8220;Fitness and fielding are definitely the key areas everyone has to keep working on,8221; Kaarthick said during an interaction on the sidelines of a felicitation ceremony for India8217;s world Twenty20 cricket champions at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

With cut-throat competition for a berth in the Indian team, Kaarthick says it is important to keep transforming ones game to suit the need of the team.

8220;I have no problem in playing at any position. I believe in myself for delivering at different positions and will bat wherever I8217;m asked to. I think I can perform in every situation,8221; said Kaarthick, who has been a wicketkeeper, an opener in the Tests and batted at number three, four, six and seven at domestic as well as international level.

Kaarthick would now focus on Ranji Trophy super League matches, beginning November 3.

8220;I am focusing on playing my Ranji matches,8221; he said.

Kaarthick had an impressive year as he managed a central contract and emerged as a successful makeshift opener in Test with some memorable knocks.

8220;It8217;s been a good year and I hope to wind it up on good note,8221; he said.
