CHANDIGARH, April 22: Dr Y P Chathley, a senior member of the faculty of the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development, died in the PGI hospital here today after a prolonged illness. He was 49.

Dr Chathley had been associated with the Centre since 1982 and was the author of several papers and a book, quot;Education, Population and Developmentquot; which was released by the then Union Finance minister.

He is survived by his wife and two sons. The body will be taken from his home, House No 2185 Sector 19, at noon on Friday.
