Workshop on export promotion concludes

CHANDIGARH, Oct 28: A two-day training workshop on export promotion concluded at Technical Teacher8217;s Training Institute today. The workshop was sponsored by the Department of Industries with a view to generate awareness about the need to boost exports. More than 100 existing exporters, potential exporters, corporate executives and professionals from various organisations attended the workshop.

The two-day deliberations focussed on relevance of exports to India, pre-shipment and post shipment credit to exporters, letter of credit, infrastructure facilities for exports, export documentation and relevance of ISO-9000 quality system management standards to export trade. The participants expressed concern over the decline in growth rate of exports, inadequacy of export infrastructure and bureaucratic delays.
