A woman was arrested for allegedly slapping and dragging a minor boy along the floor of the parking area of her apartment building after claiming that he pressed the doorbell of her flat and ran away multiple times on Saturday evening, the Surat police said on Monday.
A video in which the woman is purportedly seen dragging the boy surfaced online and his father later registered a police complaint.
According to sources, the accused resides on the first floor of her apartment building. On Sunday evening, she was alone in her flat and busy with household work when she heard the doorbell. When she opened the door, she found nobody outside. After a few minutes, again somebody pressed her flat’s doorbell and again she opened the door but found nobody. This happened five times and she then remained at the door and saw a minor boy pressing the doorbell and rushing to the parking area.
She allegedly caught hold of the boy in the parking area playing with other boys, the sources said. She allegedly dragged the boy on the parking area floor and slapped him multiple times and later warned all the kids playing there not to ring the doorbell.
On Sunday late night, the boy’s father returned home and learnt about the incident. He checked the CCTV footage of the parking area and confronted the woman over the issue. Her also took his son to a nearby hospital for treatment.
On Sunday, the boy’s father filed a police complaint.
A senior police officer said, “The condition of the boy is stable… He has bruises on his body.”
He added, “The woman apologised before us and we have uploaded a video on social media platforms. In it, she appealed to the people not to do such things, and said that she would not repeat such mistakes.”
