CHANDIGARH, Dec 9: The three-day National Consultation on Cooperative Policy, Legislation and Administration concluded today. Among other things, the workshop recommended re-designing cooperative architecture based on strong, large, self-reliant primary cooperatives capable of providing a full range of services.

The workshop agreed that cooperatives should develop a strong financial arm to become a potent alternative to shrinking budgetary support from existing channels.

B. S. Vishawanathan, president of the National Cooperative Union of India, in his valedictory address, outlined the emerging trends in cooperatives at the national and international level.
