Columnist Sandhya Jain argues that the West is 8220;promoting8221; Sonia Gandhi and alludes that it8217;s because she serves their interests. 8220;The question naturally arises: was Gandhi8217;s presence in the Forbes list timed to coincide with India8217;s accepting the Indo-US nuclear deal in toto, to the full satisfaction of the United States?8221; asks the writer.
Another proof of Sonia8217;s promotion by the West, according to the Organiser, is her being invited to the UN General Assembly 8212; 8220;For no explicable reason, Gandhi has been invited to address the United Nations General Assembly next month, though she is neither a head of government nor a head of state, but is only the chief of a political party that leads India8217;s ruling coalition regime. In terms of protocol, there can be little doubt that Gandhi lacks the status to address the UN, and the invitation to her is only recognition of her Italian origins and underlines the Western-Christian bias of the nations that dominate this international body8221;.
Many layers
Subramanian Swamy8217;s article on Ram Setu is harsh on Dravidian politics. 8220;The Dravidian Kazhagam, a British imperialist stooge organisation, has recently threatened to burn the Ramyana in a public protest against 8216;Aryan Supremacy8217; for opposing the destruction of the Ram Setu in the implementation of the Sethusamudram Canal Project. The Dravida Movement which includes DMK, MDMK, PMK, and DK parties, is a movement of atheists, which has turned its ire on Bhagwan Sri Ram, the King of Ayodhya, and wants the Ram Setu to be demolished because it is a symbol of 8216;North Indian8217; domination. This shows the bias and malice behind the determination to destruct the Ram Setu. No self-respecting Hindu must permit this vandalism. The demolition would also facilitate the anti-Indian terrorist LTTE8217;s brigand boats to move quicker from Tuticorin to Chennai on the Palk Strait, and on international waters. At present, the Ram Setu stands in the way. Hence their vociferous support to Dravidian Movement parties for the Sethusamudram Ship Canal Project SSCP.8221;
Ram naam everywhere
Organiser editor R. Balashankar8217;s ire is more on Sonia Gandhi over the Setu affidavit of the Union government. He asks, 8220;Is it that the Congressmen under the tutelage of the Italian Catholic leader have stopped worshipping Ram? Does it mean that if the Sonia Congress has its way, it will dissuade people from reciting Hanuman Chalisa, singing Tulsidas8217;s Ramayana and celebrating Ramlila? For, there is no sense or reason behind the central government8217;s blasphemous proposition that if there was no Ram then what Ram Setu are the Hindus talking about?8221;
8220;There is no India if there is no Ram. Every fourth Indian has a Ram in his name. Ram is etched in the psyche of this nation so inextricably that there is no Indian literature that does not trace its inspiration in Ramayana. No other text in history has evoked so many interpretations and translations and renditions as Ramayana. No other life has influenced and guided the thinking of so many millions of people across the globe as Ram since the dawn of civilisation. Yet Ram is fiction for the South Block mandarins.8221;
