Yellow Fever

The Delhi Mango Festival is being held at Dilli Haat in Pritampura till today.

Every summer,for the past 25 years,Delhiites have been celebrating a special festival with near-devotional fervour. The Delhi Mango Festival,which opened on June 28 and ends today at Dilli Haat in Pitampura,serves up the citys favourite food in a mind-boggling variety from Dussehri,Langra,Alphonso,Kesar and Tota Pari to Jahangir,Amrapali,Neelam,Bangan Palli,Bombay Green and Aishwarya. Hardly any wonder that the venue is buzzing with excited shoppers,bargain hunters and other mango maniacs.

The inaugural day featured performances by electronic acts Stereo Buddha and Fuzz Culture,a storytelling show by educational institute Story Ghar,as well as qawwali by Yusuf Khan Nizami. Add to this mango quizzes and magic shows for children,and cultural performances by Sahitya Kala Parishad. Performers from the Punjabi Academy will take to the stage today to entertain visitors. Among the exciting games is the mango-eating festival. The womens round was held on Saturday,and the men will prove their mettle today.
