Hours before the scheduled inauguration of the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal in Lucknow by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid floral tribute to the statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary at Lok Bhawan in the state capital on Thursday.
Talking about the Rashtra Prerna Sthal, Adityanath said the ‘double-engine government’ constructed it “to keep Atal Ji’s memories alive” and to “provide continuity to his ideology”. The UP CM added that the Sthal houses 65-foot statues of Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in addition to a digital museum.
“The statue of Syama Prasad Mukherjee will convey the message of national unity and integrity. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s statue would convey his vision of Antyodaya (upliftment of the poorest), and Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s statue will guide the path to furthering the ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat’ campaign.
“This year is special, as the birth centenary celebrations of the revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee are being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. Many programs were also held in educational and training institutions across the country, focusing on Atal Ji’s poetry recitations, debates on his writings, journalism, and his important speeches in Parliament and on international forums,” said Adityanath, adding that Vajpayee represented Uttar Pradesh in Parliament for the longest period.
Along with Vajpayee, Adityanath also talked about the contributions of Madan Mohan Malaviya and Maharaja Bijli Pasi, whose birth anniversaries also fall on Thursday.
