Hindus tell Penguin to withdraw book on them
WASHINGTON: Hindus living in the US have urged the Penguin Group to withdraw noted scholar Wendy Donigers book on the community,alleging that it has numerous errors in its historical facts and Sanskrit translations. An online petition,which is currently being signed in the US,has alleged that errors and misrepresentations in The Hindus An Alternative History are bound and perhaps intended to mislead students of Indian and Hindu history.
Burial chamber of ancient Egyptian queen unearthed
CAIRO: French archaeologists have unearthed the burial chamber of a queen from Egypts Old Kingdom more than 4,000 years ago. The necropolis of Saqqara outside Cairo,famed for its massive step pyramid,has yielded a string of discoveries as 10 different teams excavate a previously untouched area. French mission head Philippe Collombert said the mummy of Queen Behenu was destroyed,but the religious texts were well preserved.
Two women banned from UK flight for refusing scan
LONDON: Manchester Airport said on Wednesday two women,who were believed to have been booked to fly out to Islamabad,refused to be scanned,citing medical and religious reasons. The airport said in a statement that the passengers were not permitted to fly in accordance with the government directive on scanners.
