Writer Terry Pratchett said watching a man die has reaffirmed his support for the right to assisted suicide. Pratchett,who has Alzheimers disease,watched a man take a lethal dose of barbiturates at a Swiss suicide clinic for a BBC documentary. Anti-euthanasia campaigners criticised the decision to show the death of Peter Smedley,who had motor neuron disease. But,Pratchett said he supported the cause Tuesday.

Plaster prevents surgery scars

Scientists have developed a new revolutionary wound dressing plaster which they say could reduce scars caused by surgery. Developed by a team of researchers from the Stanford University in the US,the dressing is made from a form of silicone which is stretched over the wound and left in place for up to eight weeks. The plaster works by reducing the tension on the skin that leads to scarring,the Daily Mail reported.
