LONDON: A leading political author has reportedly had his weekly chat show on state television stopped after he dubbed President Nicolas Sarkozy a child king and First Lady Carla Bruni a maneater. Franz-Olivier Giesbert has claimed President Sarkozy threatened to smash his face in after he advised him not to introduce his wife to any handsome men. Last week Rémy Pflimlin,Sarkozys appointee as head of France Télévisions,shelved Giesberts weekly programme,Semaine Critique Critical Week,on France 2,Daily Mail reported.
David Beckham meets car accident,unhurt
LOS ANGELES: Soccer star David Beckham and his 12-year-old son Brooklyn had a narrow escape when his SUV struck the rear of another vehicle that had broken down on the highway. The sportsman was driving down the Los Angeles freeway when the driver rear-ended a stalled vehicle,reported TMZ. Beckhams black Cadillac SUV collided with the rear of a gold Mitsubishi, said Jennifer Connolly,spokesperson for California Highway Patrol.
Royal family braced for cut in funding: Report
LONDON: The British Queen and her family are braced for a substantial cut in their funding from the government,a media report said. The Sunday Telegraph quoted sources saying,the government is planning for the Queen and her family to lose a significant amount of their 39.9 million annual income.
