Sudhir Mishra,director,on yeh saali zindagi

Director Sudhir Mishra has nearly completed the shooting of his latest project,Yeh Saali Zindagi, which examines the pitfalls of love and longing in contemporary India. This is my most soft and romantic film exploring the travails of love, says Mishra. It is set in a contemporary world where youngsters long for love in their busy work schedules. The movie stars Mishras regular muse Chitrangada Singh as an aspiring pop singer,Irrfan Khan as an investment banker, and Arunoday Singh as a local goon. The cast also includes newcomer Aditi Rao.

Chitrangadas role gets special mention as it is less sombre than her previous outings. This is what she is like in real life, says Mishra. She is no longer the brooding character of my previous films. Though her personality has a vulnerability about it,this role exposes her wide range as an actor. Mishra says the film is inspired by his earlier film Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin, but is not a sequel; just a funnier, edgier and trippy look at love. I would define it as a romantic film in the guise of a thriller, adds Mishra. The film, produced by Prakash Jha,is scheduled for release on January 7.
