Libraries, smart classes, sports and solar power drive change in UP’s aspirational blocks

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is working with full focus to transform the state’s aspirational development blocks.

Concrete changes have been made in several backward and aspirational blocks. Improvements are being seen in education, health, nutrition, energy, skill development and basic facilities. These works have been carried out through the effective use of incentive funds received from the Centre and the state.

As a result, areas that earlier struggled for basic services are now emerging as models of inspirational development. The progress shows the government’s shift towards result-based governance.

In Majhgawan development block of Bareilly, astronomy laboratories have been set up in two upper primary schools. The aim is to encourage scientific thinking and creativity among students. This initiative has helped rural children connect with modern science. A library has also been built at the Nyay Panchayat level to support education.

In Beheta Buzurg gram panchayat of the same block, a mini stadium and an open gym have been constructed. These facilities are meant to promote physical fitness and social development. The move is also aimed at encouraging sports and a drug-free, healthy lifestyle among rural youth.

In Wazirganj development block of Badaun, incentive funds were used at the Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School. A CC road and a boundary wall have been constructed to improve safety and facilities for girl students. The step reflects the government’s priority on girls’ education and security.

In Sohavan development block of Ballia, a 10-kilowatt rooftop solar panel system has been installed on the block office building. This has reduced electricity costs and promoted the use of green energy in government offices.

Targeted investments have also been made in health, nutrition, drinking water, skill development and human resource growth. Special attention is being given to indicators related to pregnant women, children and adolescent girls. The focus is on improving social outcomes as well as the human development index.
