Wanted list: BJP targets PC

The main Opposition said the buck stops at the door of the Home Minister and he should take the real responsibility for the embarrassment as action against some junior-level officials was not enough

With yet another goof-up in the Most Wanted list that India had handed over to Pakistan coming to light, the BJP on Friday demanded the resignation of Home Minister P Chidambaram. The main Opposition said the buck stops at the door of the Home Minister and he should take the real responsibility for the embarrassment as action against some junior-level officials was not enough.

Chidambaram hit back saying the Opposition had displayed monumental ignorance as it should know that the nodal ministry for the CBI is the Department of Personnel and Training and not the Home Ministry.

Seizing the opportunity to attack the government and target Chidambaram, the party said the Home Ministry was not just a post office to pass on such information provided to it without doing any verification. Another goof up8230;. To err is government of India. Our government has made us a laughing stock before the whole world, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said.

Blooper after blooper. I am tired of saying that the government is embarrassing the country. Let us wait until the whole list is scrutinised, she tweeted. Her party was much more aggressive. BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said the UPA government had given Pakistan an opportunity it had been looking for to trash New Delhis long-held position that Islamabad harbours those who have committed acts of terror in India.

The responsibility for this latest goof-up lies with the Home Minister. Suspension of an inspector and transfer of two officials are not enough, he said.
