Samsung Electronics Co Ltd launched a host of products at its annual regional forum in Hyderabad on Friday. The company showcased its 2013 product portfolio at the event.
Samsung said it achieved sales growth of over 35 per cent in Southwest Asia in 2012. 8220;Consumers are looking for technology to enrich and empower their lives and not something that complicates it. Our goal is to give them that technology,8221; BD Park,President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia.
Here are some of the new products announced at the event.
Televisions
Building on its range of smart television sets,Samsung launched F8000,an LED TV available in sizes of up to 65 inches. It is the first Samsung TV to ship with a quad-core processor,which aids in multi-tasking switching between online services and apps. The company announced two new accessories with the television.
One of these is the Smart Touch Control,a universal remote with a touchpad. Users can 8220;write8221; the channel number on the touchpad to change channels. It will work with TVs from other manufacturers too,Samsung said. The second accessory is the evolution kit,which is an upgrade kit for Samsung8217;s 2012 smart TVs. Users just need to place it on the back panel to upgrade their TV to the performance levels of this year8217;s products.
Another TV launched at the event is the 85-inch ultra high-definition TV called 85S9. It will be available in May 2013. The TV can handle ultra high-definition 4K content. It has an upscaling technology that upgrades HD content to UHD.
Cameras
Samsung has added a 3D-enabled WiFi camera called NX300 to its lineup. The camera has a 20.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and wide light sensitivity ISO range of 100-25,600.
It comes with a 45 mm F1.8 2D/3D lens. It has a 3.31-inch touchscreen that tilts for high- and low-angle shots. Samsung said the camera is the world8217;s first single-lens 3D system that allows users to capture 3D stills and video.
Mobiles
Expanding on the Note range of tablets,Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 510. It is an 8-inch device that comes with the stylus S Pen. The new device adds physical menu buttons at the bottom of the screen. The new tablet focuses on multi-tasking and the company wants this device to be your ebook reader and diary. It runs Android Jelly Bean,has 16GB internal storage and rear and front cameras.
PCs
In an attempt to 8220;bring excitement back to the PC segment8221;,Samsung launched the Series 7 Chronos laptop. The laptop has a 15.7-inch touchscreen that supports 10-point multi-touch and the company claims it has a battery life of 11 hours. Samsung Series 7 Ultra was another laptop launched at the event. It has a 13.3-inch touchscreen display with a battery life of around eight hours.
An all-in-one touchscreen device was also launched. The device is called Series 7 Touch SC770.
Home appliances
Samsung said it aims to be the global market leader in home appliances by 2015. The firm launched a new refrigerator called RT42. The company claimed that a new technology allows RT42 to keep fruits and vegetables fresh for longer. A new washing machine WA16 features Wobble technology that is supposed to reduce water usage and clean clothes better.
