UP also leads in monetary relief recommended by the NHRC.

Of the Rs 5.66 crore recommended by the commission in the period,Rs 2.37 crore was for the state and Rs 1.65 crore for Assam.

While the National Human Rights Commission C does not have a ‘fake encounters’ category, monetary relief and punitive action are recommended in cases where loopholes are found and which raise doubt.
