A day after Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh was admitted to AIIMS,doctors at the institute said tests performed on him over the last 24 hours had shown that the function of his transplanted kidney was deteriorating.
His temperature was 101 F on Tuesday morning, and it dropped to 100 F by evening. Coupled with the presence of E. Coli, this definitely indicates a Urinary Tract Infection UTI, a senior doctor said. He also had a bout of diarrhoea. The UTI and diarrhoea indicate that the function of the graft or the transplanted kidney is deteriorating.
A series of examinations were conducted on Singh to assess his gastrointestinal, chest and kidney functions, reports of which will be submitted to the court on Wednesday. We did a thorough examination, since we have been asked to give a full report on his condition, the doctor added.
AIIMS spokesperson Dr Y K Gupta said 55-year-old Amar Singh was brought to the casualty emergency at 8.30 pm on Monday. Several investigations have been performed on him,and he has also been put on treatment as is deemed necessary, added Dr Gupta.
