Hairstylist Aalim Hakim has turned Bollywood insider for a new TV show

Ragamuffin,bindaas,free-spirited if there is one thing that makes Ranbir Kapoor pull off that Besharam look,it is his hair styling. Ranbirs cool and retro haircut he is shooting for Besharam in Chandigarh is credited to Bollywood hairstylist Aalim Hakim. As he worked on Kapoor,Hakim shared the contents of his new show on TLC called Style Inc with Aalim Hakim.

Though theres been a spate of makeover shows for the channel Trinny & Susannah,Being Blunt with Adhuna Akhtar,What Not to Wear India edition and Rags to Red Carpet his is not run of the mill, promises Hakim. Playing a Bollywood insider, the show will see him work his magic on actors such as Ranbir,Hrithik Roshan,Saif Ali Khan,Ajay Devgn and Shahid Kapoor. Style Inc (it airs on Fridays at 10 pm),says Hakim,is an exclusive VIP pass to behind-the-scenes action of star photo-shoots and everything that goes into creating the perfect look. In each episode,I will give a walk-in client a transformational makeover, he adds.

Having trained under his father Halim Kairanvi,Indias first celebrity hairdresser who styled for the likes of Dilip Kumar,Sunil Dutt,Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna,Hakim learnt the ropes when he was 16 years old.

The show will show me transforming my clients persona with cuts, hair colour jobs, patterned beards, hair art and tattoos, says the hairstylist.

One of the showcases is of Hakim giving Ranbir a biker dude look for a photo shoot. The series will also see me jet across cities to work out a new look for Ajay Devgns next film and transform him from a bearded,at-home guy to a moustached hero of the 80s, he said.

Viewers will get to watch Roshan getting three distinctive looks for an advertisement campaign. The best was joining Saif (Ali Khan) on an exclusive tour of his treasure trove a collection of shoes, sunglasses and watches. Saif will share secrets about his prized possessions, his idea of style and how to keep shoes gleaming with champagne, said Hakim.

According to Hakim, the novelty of the series it has five episodes to begin with is that viewers would get to watch all that unfolds behind the scenes in the vanity van,the green room and the journey of the creation and making of a look. No one has ever seen how actors get that style or appearance from their tattoos, sunglasses, wardrobes, accessories. The show will tell all, says Hakim, who is an Anthony Bourdain fan.

I feel a makeover can boost that ego and confidence to great levels. Good hair makes you look gorgeous, highlights the features and makes one visible, says the style guru, who would be giving Ranbir a crew cut in his next fim Yah Jawaani Hai Deewani.
