Techie from Andhra robbed,shot dead in US

Software engineer Catamanchi Venkat Subba Reddy,32,a native of Andhra Pradeshs Chittoor district,was robbed and shot dead by a group of five Mexicans in a motel near Detroit in the US early Wednesday morning.

Catamanchi,who worked with a banking solutions firm,was apparently lured to the motel by a Mexican woman,whom he met through an online dating website. Venkat Reddy met a 23-year-old Mexican woman through internet dating,had a meal at Wendys restaurant and drove to nearby EZ Rest motel around 2 am. This womans boyfriend and four other cronies were already waiting at the motel. They robbed Venkat and then shot him dead,said Prasad Thotakura,executive vice-president of Telugu Association of North America TANA.

People who saw the shooting informed police,who arrested all the five while they were trying to flee.

Reddys brother Madhav Reddy said he got a call from TANA,informing him about his brothers death. He had gone to the US about 10 years ago. One of our relatives has gone there to bring the body back, Reddy said.

Thotakura,meanwhile,said all formalities have been completed and the body was in transit to reach Chennai by early Tuesday.
