Anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare on Monday announced in his blog that the Team Anna committee the India Against Corruption core committee now stood dissolved. As Hazare wrote that Team Anna would not have any talks with the government on the Lokpal issue now,the post caught many of his associates unawares.
On microblogging site Twitter,Kiran Bedi wrote she did not know what the blog meant,while another Team Anna member Manish Sisodia echoed her. Core committee member Devinder Sharma tweeted: Distressed at Annas dissolving of his Team through a blog post. This is not done8230;
Former Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde said he felt sorry that the committee was disbanded and said it must have been controversy over the decision to go political that forced Annas decision.
Another associate Arvind Kejriwal,however,claimed that the decision had been taken in Sundays meeting with Anna Hazare and now there would be a new committee called preparatory committee.
Sixteen months after he first raised the Jan Lokpal demand and later launched an agitation for an SIT to probe allegations against ministers,Hazare wrote: Team Anna was formed for the purpose of Jan Lokpal. We have decided not to have any relation with the government,hence from today the job entrusted to Team Anna has come to an end and so this is also the end of the Team Anna committee.
He also said his nationwide tour would only be towards achieving the Jan Lokpal and once that was achieved he would return to Maharashtra.
Insiders say Hazare had been resisting his teams attempts to launch a political party for many months and that he was now very particular that his name should not be used for promoting the political party. Hazare has already said he would neither be a part of the political party and nor would he fight elections. However,he will be present at Ramlila Maidan for yoga guru Baba Ramdevs agitation on bringing back black money,say sources in Patanjali Yogpeeth.
Meanwhile,IAC sources said discussions were on about the name,structure and organisation of the political party to be launched with the consensus building around Swaraj Party.
Hazare,meanwhile,reached his village Ralegan Siddhi on Monday evening. After landing at the Pune airport,when reporters asked him to comment on his decision,Hazare evaded a reply. I am grateful for the support given to us by media. Thank You, he said before rushing towards his vehicle. At Ralegan Siddhi too,Hazare did not respond to queries pertaining to the dissolution of Team Anna.
