Singham is a fantastic film. Ajay Devgn has done a spectacular job. The movie is doing amazing business at single-screens. But Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara ZNMD still takes the cream at the multiplexes, describes trade analyst Amod Mehra of the success of the Rohit Shetty film.
Singham, which was made at 20 crore, according to Mehra,is the surprise hit of the year. The movie had no good music,no big heroine,no foreign locations,no big sets,no sidekicks,no sex and rape scenes. It only has a solo biggie and that is Ajay Devgn. However,it is the content that is high on entertainment and is proving good for the films business, he exults. Taran Adarsh, another trade analyst, adds that the film has got the biggest opening after Ready this year.
As per the release sent by Reliance Entertainment, the producers of Singham, the film that released in 2000 screens worldwide, had grossed Rs 47.70 crore in its opening weekend making it the second highest opening for this year.
However, according to Mehra,Singham garnered Rs 9.30 crore on Friday,July 22,on Saturday it jumped to 10.50 crore and on Sunday it collected 12.75 crore,so the film made a business of 32.55 crore over three days.
Rakesh Sippy of Chitra cinema says that while Singham is doing good business in Maharashtra,Gujarat and Saura-shtra belt,it is not faring so well in the citys multiplexes. Trade analyst Vinod Mirani says,Singham grossed 31 crore in its opening three days of release making it the highest for any Ajay Devgn film.
The movie,on the whole,is a big success even after facing opposition from Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 2,ZNMD and Murder 2.
