Claiming that she wanted to address all questions that have been raised in a correct fashion, managing editor of Tehelka Shoma Chaudhury told television channels on Thursday that Tarun Tejpals decision to step down as editor-in-chief was more than what the victim had demanded.

He stepped down which is not something she asked for,it is over and above that, she said.

Chaudhury further told television channels that it was an internal matter by her (victims) own desire. Surely if you all are feeling more aggrieved than the journalist herself,I cannot answer that.

I am not a fugitive,Tarun is not a fugitive, the institution is not a fugitive, she said.

At the end of the day,Chaudhury issued a statement announcing the constitution of a formal complaints committee under publisher Urvashi Butalia to investigate the matter.

In furtherance to Tehelkas acceptance of Tarun Tejpals recusal from editorship of Tehelka on November 20th,which followed the official unconditional apology he had mailed to the journalist concerned on November 19th,Tehelka has now constituted a formal complaints committee,in accordance to Vishaka guidelines, the statement read. The statement also said Tehelka would ensure setting up a formal complaints committee, according to section 4 of the Sexual Harassment of Women (Prevention,Prohibition and Redressal Act,2013),an institutional mechanism that was sorely missing in Tehelka.
