The Supreme Court Friday agreed to hear on October 8 the central governments plea for modification of a court order restricting all authorities from denying a benefit or service to any citizen of India for want of the Aadhaar card.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas,in its application,sought clarification or modification of the order to enable it continue with its Direct Benefit Transfer for Liquefied Petroleum Gas Consumers scheme. Only those holding Aadhaar cards are listed as beneficiaries to this scheme.
A Bench of Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam and Justice Ranjan Gogoi considered the brief submission of Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran and ordered the applications listing on Tuesday.
