The website of the Criminal Investigation Department CID of West Bengal was found hacked on Sunday morning.
The hacked home page of the website,http://cidwestbengal.gov.in/,had messages by a group that called itself the Muslim Liberation Army.
Various messages demanding a free Kashmir and statements against the country were posted on the home page of the website.
CID officials blocked the website in the afternoon after the matter came to their notice. It was finally restored by Sunday evening.
According to CID officials,the cyber crime cell of the investigation unit is probing the case.
They said it is possible that the website was hacked from computers outside the country and the cyber cell was trying to locate the Internet Protocol IP address of the hackers.
The website was found hacked in the morning. Only the front page was hacked. We restored the website by the evening, Deputy Inspector General,CID,K Jayaraman told The Indian Express over the phone.
Asked who could be behind this act,he said investigations were on.
