Corporate Affairs Minister M Veerappa Moily, who was on Tuesday given additional charge of the Power Ministry, feels there is dire need to speed up power sector reforms.
Shindeji outgoing power minister Sushilkumar Shinde has done a lot of things. But I am a firm believer in reforms. I feel the reform process needs to be carried forward in a faster way. We cant afford to sit back and watch as country witnesses power shortage. We will work with the states to see how this can be achieved in the minimum time. Bottlenecks will have to be removed, Moily told The Indian Express immediately after news of his being given additional charge of the crucial ministry came.
Incidentally, the first thing that Moily did after being informed about his new charge was to seek a meeting with senior functionaries of the ministry on Wednesday to assess the problem of repeated tripping of grids.
