Amidst public objections raised by some ministries, the Prime Ministers Office PMO has called a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the creation of a National Investment Board NIB,that is envisaged as an enlarged Cabinet committee to fast-track big-ticket investment projects.
Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Pulok Chatterji has called senior officials from all the stakeholder ministries for what would be the first effort at the official level to draw out the broad contours of the proposed body, that has run into trouble at the concept stage itself.
At the meeting the Department of Economic Affairs,is expected to make a detailed presentation on what the body is proposed to be and how it will function, official sources said. It will also address concerns raised by some of the ministries, particularly those by the environment ministry.
