So much so that the minutes of the last meeting have recorded that the Commission takes a serious view of the issue of leaking of information and has resolved that none other than the UGC chairman or a person authorised by him will interact with the media to avoid any misreporting of the facts.

DIDI IN RACE

MAMATA Banerjee is the surprise choice in an ongoing online poll that asks the question who will be the next PM of India? Hosted by a user of the website theranking.com,the poll shows she is leading the race with 66,000 points,much ahead of Narendra Modi at 21,000 points. Rahul Gandhi comes fifth with just 2,500 points. Although the online poll has no political relevance and is not being hosted by any survey agency,the poll has gone viral with TMC supporters sharing it on Mamata Banerjees official Facebook page.

BORROWED IDEA

IN an effort to showcase its development works,the Congress used an audio visual AV presentation prepared by an organisation called Global City Initiative that spoke about the constraints in Delhis development and the progress it has made in the 15 years of Congress rule. Interestingly,orthopaedic surgeon Dr Naveen Talwar,who is among the people behind the AV,claims that his is an apolitical organisation that seeks to help the incumbent government develop the city. He has no qualms,he says,about the presentation being used during election campaign.

MHA IN FIX

HOME Ministry officials are caught in a bind with many officers of the rank of director and deputy director being asked to attend the Indo-US police chiefs meet scheduled on December 4-5. The Central government employees get a day off to cast their votes and December 4 happens to be the day when Delhi is going to polls. The decision has not got down well within the Home Ministry as there has been a drive by the government to make more and more people vote during elections. Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will also be present during the ceremony which will see the presence of US police chiefs from Los Angeles,Colarado and Texas along with US ambassador Nancy Powell.
