Describing the Union Budget as totally disappointing,Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said it has belied the expectations of common man and bypassed the developmental needs of Orissa.
The Union Budget contains no significant policy intervention to revive growth in economy, tackle inflation and ensure food security for the poor. It contains no significant allocation for development of farm sector. It does not have any special measure to contain inflation which is seriously hurting the aam aadmi. The budgetary allocation for Central assistance to state plan has been drastically reduced in the revised estimates and only marginally increased in the budget estimates for 2013-14. Unfortunately, full provision has not been made for Central Sales Tax compensation to the states, Naveen said.
He came down heavily on the UPA government over budgetary allocation for the implementation of the food security Bill. It is grossly inadequate. It will remain only as an expression of intent without any commitment, he said.
