Nine bluechips outperform Sensex

Nine of the 30 Sensex companies have outperformed the BSE benchmark on its way to 20K...

Nine of the 30 Sensex companies,including Reliance Industries and HDFC,have outperformed the BSE benchmark in its journey from 19,000 level to 20,000 mark over the past seven sessions.

The 30-share barometer Sensex witnessed a smart gain of 6.39 per cent,or a whopping 1,200 points,in the last seven trading sessions. While shares of nine bluechip stocks jumped up to 14 per cent during the period under review.

Since September 9 till date,shares of mortgage lender HDFC zoomed by a staggering 14.54 per cent during the period to finish at Rs 722.30 today,witnessing the maximum spurt among its peers,followed by realty major DLF which zoomed by 11.41 per cent to close at Rs 358.60 on the BSE.

Further,private sector lender HDFC Bank emerged as the third biggest gainer with a surge of 10.20 per cent.

Engineering giant Larsen amp; Toubro too saw a smart rally and scaled higher by 8.31 per cent.

Country8217;s most valued firm Reliance Industries witnessed an upsurge of 7.83 per cent and settled fifth in the list of the nine outperformers.

Among the others leading performers were IT services provider TCS 7.07 per cent,private sector lender ICICI Bank 6.99 per cent,ADAG firm Reliance Infrastructure 6.94 per cent and the country8217;s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki 6.67 per cent.

Meanwhile,the broader gauge Sensex closed with a gain of 95.45 points at 20,001.55.
