Set up in the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) got its first case on Monday with the Centre deciding to hand over two cases relating to insurgency in the Northeast to it. The two cases, registered by the Assam Police recently, relate to the arrest of a few persons and recovery of cash amounting to Rs one crore, weapons and mobile phones. Preliminary investigations revealed that the funds were meant for an insurgent group for procurement of arms and other terror-related activities. The involvement of militant group Dima Halim Daogah (DHD),also known as the Black Widow,is being suspected in these cases.
