Mumbai police to press for custody

The Mumbai police said it would press for custody of Syed Abdul Karim alias Tunda.

The Mumbai police said it would press for custody of Syed Abdul Karim alias Tunda as he is wanted in connection with at least seven low-intensity blasts in Mumbai in 1992 and 1993. There are six blast cases registered against Tunda. We will,therefore,seek his custody, said Mumbai police Commissioner Satyapal Singh. According to police sources,Tunda is named as an accused in over 35 blast cases executed by his protégé Dr. Jalees Ansari alias Dr.Bomb. In 1985,during a meeting at a mosque in Mominpura,Tunda set up the Tanzim Islahul Muslimeen,a group intended to defend Muslims.
