US not sensitive to Pak people: Musharraf

WASHINGTON: By omitting Pakistan from the itinerary of his current trip to Asia,President Barack Obama has shown that the US is not sensitive to the sentiments of Pakistani people,former President Pervez Musharraf has said. This reflects that the US President is not sensitive to the sentiments of the people of Pakistan, Musharraf told MSNBC television with regard to the trip. He added,that the US President is unlikely to take up the issue of Kashmir during his meetings in India.

Bush says Palin is unqualified: Report

NEW YORK: Former US president George W Bush thinks that Sarah Palin is unqualified and she spoiled the Republican partys 2008 election campaign,a media report said. Bush allegedly told friends that the glamorous former Alaskan governor is not at all qualified to be President and criticised John McCain for picking her as his running mate in 2008,the New York Daily News reported. Naming Palin makes Bush think less of McCain as a man, a Republican official close to Bush was quoted as saying.

Russian reporter attacked,in coma

MOSCOW: A reporter for a Russian newspaper was left in a coma Saturday after two men smashed his head,legs and fingers in an attack that prosecutors believe may be linked to his work. Prosecutors said two unidentified attackers were waiting for Oleg Kashin,30,when he returned to his apartment in Moscow just after midnight. Kashins editor at the Kommersant newspaper,Mikhail Mikhailin,said he was investigating informal organisations.

Record ransom paid for S Korean ship

MOGADISHU: Somali pirates said on Saturday they had received a record ransom of 9.5 million for the release of Samho Dream,a South Korean oil supertanker they hijacked in the Indian Ocean in April this year. The Samho Dream,which can carry more than 2 million barrels of crude oil,was hijacked and its crew of five South Koreans and 19 Filipinos taken hostage.
