TTE held for molesting girl

Malda: A ticket travelling examiner was arrested for allegedly trying to molest a girl in a running train,sources said Saturday. The TTE was caught by the father of the 16-year-old girl when she screamed in a reserved compartment of Down Darjeeling Mail Thursday night, sources said,adding the accused was arrested and later released on bail.

TN farmer held for poisoning peacocks

MADURAI: A farmer was arrested for allegedly poisoning to death seven peacocks that were raiding his plantation at Chinaperali village near Virudhunagar in Tamil NAdu,police said Saturday. Raja,50,was arrested after members of the local population informed the Forest Department about the incident. The farmer had allegedly sprinkled paddy soaked in poison around his land.

Militant hideout busted in Valley

Srinagar: The army Saturday claimed to have busted a militant hideout and recovered 43 kg explosives in Jamp;Ks Budgam district. On specific information about presence of terrorists in area of Dhurmuna in Budgam,an operation was launched by the army and the police on Friday and a cache comprising 43 kg of high explosives recovered, an army spokesman said.

Two Bangladeshis killed in Meghalaya

Shillong: Village defence personnel on Saturday fired at a group of Bangladeshis that was allegedly trying to steal forest produce in Meghalayas East Khasi Hills,killing two of them,sources said. Bangladesh lodged a protest with the BSF over the incident. While BSF confirmed the killing of only one person,Bangladeshi authorities insisted that two people had been shot dead.
