MCI head resigns from college
AHMEDABAD: Medical Council of India (MCI) President Ketan Desai who is embroiled in a corruption case has tendered his resignation from the post of head of Urology Department at government-run B J Medical college here. A copy of the resignation,received at the B J Medical college by post,has also been forwarded to the Health and Family Welfare Department of the state government.
Five killed in Rajasthan mishap
JAIPUR: Five persons,including two women,were killed and six others injured when a jeep in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck in Rajasthans Sikar district on Saturday,police said. The victims were on their way to a nearby village Arania from Chomu town to attend a mourning ceremony when the mishap occurred near Reengus town. Three persons identified as Suna Ram,Hanuman and Kesri killed on spot while Ram Pal and Anu Devi succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
Prabhat Jha new MP BJP president
BHOPAL: MP Prabhat Jha was on Saturday elected unopposed as President of the Madhya Pradesh unit of BJP. His election was announced at the party office here by BJP vice-president Kalraj Mishra who was the observer for the poll process. Mishra said only one nomination (that of Jha) was received for the state party presidents post. Jha (51),is a Rajya Sabha member from MP.
Maoists gun down CPM leader
JHARGRAM (WB): In a midnight attack,armed Maoists dragged out a local CPM leader,Sudhanshu Maiti (53),from his house and gunned him down at Lodhasoli in West Midnapores Jhargram area,police said on Saturday. Maiti was killed on the spot,police added. ENS & PTI
