Kumaraswamy draws flak for Gandhi remarks

JDS leader H D Kumaraswamys remarks that Mahatma Gandhi would have turned corrupt in the present-day politics,on Monday drew sharp reaction from leaders,including Anna Hazare,who wondered how the country could eliminate corruption if leaders talked like this. If leaders are talking like this,how are you going to root out corruption? he asked.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee termed the comments as meaningless utterances.

BJPs Ravi Shankar Prasad said: What else can you except from Kumaraswamy? He said the movement against corruption arose because of the patent disgust of people over a spate of scams like 2G,CWG.

Kumaraswamy defended himself.I have not said if Gandhiji was alive,he would have turned corrupt. In this situation I think he would have run away from politics. That is what I said.
