AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said the real challenge for him in Uttar Pradesh has just begun. The MP,who retained the Amethi seat on Saturday, viewed the poll results, which signalled the revival of the Congress in the state,as rejection of the politics of caste.
Talking to reporters here,he said the people voted for development in Uttar Pradesh. He avoided any reply regarding the possibility of his induction as a minister at the Centre.
I view it relatively in long term. In every election, there are winners or losers. I dont believe in wining or losing the elections. My job is to change the Congress party and unleash the energy of the youth in the country, he told reporters before leaving for Delhi.
Accompanied by his sister Priyanka and brother-in-law Robert Vadra,Rahul landed in Sultanpur at around 5 pm and reached the counting centre half-an-hour later. He was received there by his partys winning candidate Sanjay Singh.
The people of UP are fed up with the politics of the last two decades. Uttar Pradesh is the biggest state of the country. We won more than 20 seats in UP. This is just the beginning. Chhoti shuruaat hai. UP ki janata ke liye dil se karenge its a small beginning8230;we will do our best for the people of UP, Rahul said. He assured his supporters that he would work hard to build a strong organisation for the party by the time the state goes for Assembly polls.
He congratulated the poor and young of the country. We have to change the way of politics. This country believes in clean politics and it wants to see the unification of the country, he added.
