Jammu: 8 die after car falls into Chenab

Eight people were killed and one injured when a TATA Sumo skid off the road and fell into river Chenab on the Doda-Kishtwar road Tuesday. The vehicle was carrying 10 people and was on way to Thathri from Drabshalla,when it fell into the river due to some mechanical snag,sources said. Police said one passenger was still missing. CM Omar Abdullah sanctioned ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh to the next of kin of each of the deceased and Rs 10,000 for the injured.
