Jkhand cops clueless week after 4 bodies found

The bodies were found near a thoroughfare in Katanga village,which was clear till 7 pm. We received information about three bodies early on Friday, said M Tamilvanan,Khuntis Superintendent of Police. The police later discovered a fourth victim 20 feet away from the other three.

The dead include siblings Omer and Hari Lohra,who were likely to be 17 and 19 years old. Their heads were smashed and hands tied behind the back. The other two deceased were identified as Mango Munda 16 and Mansuk Naik 20.

The first response was to suspect the Maoists,who are active in the district. That has since been ruled out.

The four dead were part of a group of eight who were usually together and worked at a stone quarry. We have information that they were involved in some illegal activities. It could have been a tiff over sharing of profit. The others are absconding and we are on the lookout, the SP said. The police are also investigating whether someone killed them over an affair.

There was a football match happening nearby. Someone called Munda and Naik,who were spectators,to the murder spot, said Tamilvanan.

Seven murders took place in Khuntis Murhu block over two days in January after a failed attempt in human trafficking. A bike thief was lynched by a mob in Bedadih village in the first week of August.
