A joint salvage exercise by Indian Navy and US Navy divers is set to commence in the Andaman Sea off Port Blair on Tuesday. INS Nireekshak,the diving tender of the Indian Navy,and USS Safeguard,a specialised salvage ship,will participate in the salvage exercises (SALVEX). The seven-day exercise will see the use of modern salvage equipment,including remote controlled vehicles. The Indian Navys team will consist of 17 clearance divers,including two officers.
