Indian banks8217; loans up 22.7 on year

Indian bank loans rose 22.7 percent on year as of Nov. 19,the central bank's weekly statistical supplement WSS showed on Friday.

Deposits were up 15.8 percent from a year earlier.

Outstanding loans rose by 272.70 billion rupees to 35.58 trillion rupees in the two weeks to Nov. 19.

Non-food credit rose by 230.11 billion rupees to 35 trillion rupees and food credit rose by 42.59 billion rupees to 580.08 billion rupees in the period,the bank said.

Bank deposits rose by 393.78 billion rupees to 48.50 trillion rupees in the two weeks to Nov. 19,the WSS showed.
