The Rajya Sabha witnessed ruckus on Tuesday over the Ram Setu issue,with BJP asking the government to withdraw its affidavit given in court on plans to dismantle it. It led to bitter exchanges and prompted adjournment of the House.

As BJP and the treasury benches traded charges against each other,E M S Natchiappan,who was in the Chair,adjourned the House till 2 pm amid acrimonious scenes.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour,BJP parliamentarian Prakash Javadekar asked the government to withdraw its affidavit given in court on its decision to dismantle the structure and said they will not allow this to happen.

BJP members stood up after Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla accused the party of playing politics on the issue for votes.

They later trooped into the Well raising slogan affidavit wapas lo,wapas lo take back the affidavit.

Difficult to have dual prices of diesel: Chidambaram

FINANCE Minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday said the government is finding it difficult to charge a market price for luxury cars and a subsidised price for farmers and transport trucks at the same petrol pump. However,he said that he is open to suggestions from parliamentarians on the issue. We have knocked our heads together to see if it is possible to have dual prices of diesel at the same retail outlet petrol pump, he said replying to supplementaries during Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha.

MPs want action on Bhandara case

EXPRESSING anguish over the alleged rape and murder of three Dalit girls,all below 11 years,in Maharashtras Bhandara district,MPs in the RS sought the Centres intervention to bring the perpetrators of crime to book and a CBI probe into the issue. They said the Home Minister should respond to the issue. Raising the issue during Zero Hour,Shiv Senas Bharatkumar Raut said his head hung in shame that he lived in a nation where 12 days after such a ghastly incident,the accused were roaming scot-free.
