Immigration officer held for ‘molesting’ Italian chef

A 54-year-old junior immigration officer at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Bangalore has been arrested for alleged sexual assault on an Italian woman seeking an exit visa.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-east) T D Pawar said the 27-year-old woman working as a chef in a five-star hotel in the city approached the FRRO for an exit visa as her employment visa expires this month.

N Krishnan of HSR Layout introduced himself as inspector Shivakumar and promised to help her.

He called her near his quarters for a meeting on November 27 in his private car. The woman,who was with her child,was asked to pay Rs 24,000 to get the work done. When she refused,Krishnan allegedly sought sexual favours and molested her.
